Relax - Play - Feel the Land

We live in changed times and we want you to continue to have a great holiday, feeling relaxed and able to have a fantastic time knowing that you’re staying in a clean and safe home and are as well looked after as possible.

Following UK and Scottish Government guidelines in the post-covid world, we’re taking the following steps to ensure we maximise the safety and enjoyment of your holiday:

  • Our cleaning protocols have been developed in accordance with industry standards and UK and Scottish Government guidelines https://www.assc.co.uk/policy/cleaning-protocols-for-self-catering-properties-in-the-context-of-covid-19/
  • We are increasing the vacant occupancy gap between visitors to at least 30 hours, even though this is not a requirement from the guidelines
  • During those 30 hours we have amended our cleaning regime to include the full disinfection of all hard surfaces
  • After a lengthy testing period we’ve chosen to use Dew Products to support the cleaning of the Farmhouse. Dew Disinfect is a highly effective virucidal disinfectant and kills 99.995% of bacteria, viruses & fungi and is 30 times more effective than bleach. The products are cruelty-free, non-toxic, refillable with a low carbon footprint and totally safe for use around your family and food preparation areas (see this https://www.dewproducts.co.uk/ for more information)
  • We will provide WHO-approved hand-sanitiser in the farmhouse for use during your stay especially as you enter and leave the house.
  • We’ll complete all introductions and any support you need during your visit following social distancing guidelines.

Our farmhouse is already in an isolated position so your group can enjoy lots of activities from the doorstep without any contact with others. Food deliveries can be organised from the local food supply network (we will send details of this) or the main supermarkets in the area. We’ll keep as up to date as we can on which restaurants are open or offering take-away services and which visitor attractions are open. We’re also preparing a number of our own activities for you and your group to get involved in if you want to during your visit at no extra cost. These include a farm tour; a distillery tour (inc sampling); re-wilding self-guided tours and things for the kids like pond dipping and mini-beast safari. We can also do a wild cocktail making class for a small charge. Please ask us about these activities at the time of booking or prior to your arrival.

We are midge free

As visitors to Scotland you may hear about our Summer biting insect, the midge – but rest easy when booking a holiday at Kirklandbank as we are midge free.   You will be able to relax outside without being bothered by these insects.  In the Scottish Summer in areas like the Western and Northern Highlands and areas with boggy ground these insects can be real nuisance, especially at dusk.  At Kirklandbank we are sufficiently far East to not have the midge, so you can spend as much time as you like outdoors on sporting activities, eating dinner or just relaxing – no midges.
